About this event
The accelerating deployment of solar energy across Southeast Asia is creating an increasing demand for skilled professionals, technical expertise, and practical competencies across the solar energy value chain. As ASEAN countries advance their renewable energy ambitions, strengthening workforce readiness has become essential to supporting the region's clean energy transition.
In response to this growing need, the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and the Asian Photovoltaic Industry Association (APVIA) are launching a collaborative initiative on solar workforce development under their existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed during the ASEAN Energy Business Forum in October 2026.
Taking place at the ASEAN Pavilion during COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye, this 90-minute session will bring together representatives from governments, academic institutions, technical and vocational training organizations, industry, and development partners to explore opportunities for strengthening solar workforce capabilities across ASEAN.
The session will feature the formal launch of the ACE-APVIA partnership, followed by discussions highlighting initiatives and institutional approaches by governments, international partners, and academic institutions to advance solar skills development across the region.
Through regional dialogue and knowledge exchange, the initiative aims to encourage stronger government–industry–academia collaboration, identify prospective institutional partners, and establish a foundation for future cooperation in developing a skilled, competent, and future-ready ASEAN solar workforce.
Objectives
The session aims to:
Officially launch the ACE–APVIA solar workforce development collaboration under their existing MOU.
Present the regional solar workforce outlook and emerging skills requirements in selected ASEAN markets.
Showcase government initiatives and national approaches to solar workforce development.
Highlight the contributions of universities and training institutions in developing relevant technical competencies.
Encourage institutional participation and development partner support for future regional collaboration.
